Each Jamu Wild Water flavour is paired up with nutrient rich, botanical extracts to hydrate you with an additional, nourishing boost.

From berries to roots, these are the brilliant, beneficial botanicals that you’ll find in Jamu Wild Water!

Dandelion

The humble dandelion is an often overlooked but amazingly beneficial wildflower!

With campaigns like #NoMowMay, our culture is slowly starting to see weeds as valuable wildflowers instead of a nuisance. Dandelions are incredibly valuable to pollinators, but also to us too!

For centuries they’ve been used by herbalists to treat digestive issues, inflammation, coughs, colds and toothache. And as scientists have uncovered their nutritional profile, it’s easy to see why they were so valued.

Packed with antioxidants and vitamins, dandelions can help to reduce inflammation and also boost our immune systems with their rich vitamin profile.

You’ll find dandelion extract in our Sparkling Lemon Jamu Wild Water cans. With each lemony sip, you can also give your immune system a positive boost!

Echinacea

Echinacea, or coneflowers as they’re often known, are members of the daisy family. Of course there are some other well known members of the daisy family that are known for their healing properties, like chamomile!

Echinacea are beautiful wildflowers that are seen as a valued remedy by many Native American groups. They’ve been used for centuries to treat illnesses like coughs, colds, sore throats and stomach aches. The plant was also prepared as a topical application to treat infections, bites and burns too.

High in flavonoids and vitamin C, the nutritional profile of echinacea shows why it is so valued as a healing herb.

These active compounds have been shown to stimulate the immune system and to promote its anti-viral function. As well as reduce inflammation.

You’ll find echinacea extract paired up with our Sparkling Blood Orange Jamu Wild Water cans. A bold, citrusy flavour paired with the additional immune boosting properties of echinacea!

Elderberry

Famously described by Hippocrates as his ‘medicine chest’, elderberries are incredibly beneficial berries.

Rich in nutrients like vitamin C and antioxidants, elderberries also contain beneficial flavonoids. One well known flavonoid that elderberries contain is Quercetin.

It’s thought to have significant antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. It helps to support the immune system in anti-viral activity and can help to reduce allergy symptoms — including runny noses and watery eyes! Studies are also looking at its effectiveness to treat more serious diseases too.

Each Sparkling Raspberry Jamu contains elderberry extract to bring you additional nutrients with every sip. So you can enjoy the sweet summery taste of raspberries while keeping your immune system happy!

Marshmallow Root

Not the fluffy pink kind! Marshmallow is a beautiful wildflower that can be found on riverbanks and salt marshes around the UK.

It has been valued for centuries in many cultures, including in ancient Egypt where it was used as a treatment for sore throats.

The soothing properties come from a milky, mucilage substance found in the roots and stems. It has anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties which explain its valued use as a treatment to soothe the respiratory and digestive tracts.

It’s also this mucilage substance that actually inspired the first marshmallow sweet recipes!

Like chicory (another star ingredient we use in Jamu), marshmallow root brings additional prebiotic fibre to our Sparkling Raspberry Jamu Wild Water cans.

Nettle

A well known plant that we usually become very familiar with in childhood! But there’s a reason nettles protect themselves with those stinging, tingling hairs...

Nettle is one of the most nutritious wild plants we have growing here in the UK. Rich in vitamins C, D and K, minerals like calcium and iron, and phytonutrients, nettle is often considered a superfood that rivals kale!

Valued for centuries, nettles have long been used in recipes and traditional treatments. Today, you might be familiar with nettle soup or tea, but throughout history, nettle was used directly as a medicine to soothe arthritis and other inflammatory illnesses.

We add nettle extract into our Sparkling Lemon flavour to add a plant-powered, nutritional boost. Its antioxidants can help to defend against inflammation and studies have even linked it to providing relief for hay fever and other allergy symptoms!

Chicory

In every can of Jamu Wild Water, you’ll finding a whopping 100% of your prebiotic fibre RDA (recommended daily allowance), and 17% of your entire fibre RDA.

Chicory really is one of our star ingredients!

Chicory root is rich in a prebiotic fibre known as inulin. As a prebiotic fibre, it helps to feed the ‘good’ bacteria in our gut (keeping our microbiome happy!).

This process is called prebiotic fermentation, and when this happens, lots of beneficial processes occur. From reducing inflammation and supporting the immune system, to improved mineral absorption within our gut.

Here in the UK, fibre is one of the nutrients most lacking in our diets. We need 30g a day, but a study by Public Health England found that most of us only reach about 18g daily. That’s a pretty big gap!

Studies are now showing that a lack of fibre often correlates with serious disease, from cancer to heart disease.

If you’re looking for a quick way to boost your fibre intake, Jamu Wild Water is a fast, refreshing and tasty way to top up on some fabulous fibre!
